- Brest development ( Thelarche ) - this is the first sign in female , usually start between 8.5 - 12.5 years
- Pubic hair growth ( Pubarche ) and a rapid height spurt - occur almost immediately after Thelarche
- Menarche - start after about 2.5 years after the onset of puberty
Stages of puberty in males are
- Testicular enlargement - the first sign of puberty
- Pubic hair growth - occurs after testicular enlargment ( between 10 - 14 years of age )
- Height spurt - the height spurt occurs later in males and is of greater magnitude than in females
